The word “yoga” itself means union. Trauma informed yoga is not like standard yoga classes at a yoga studio. Trauma informed yoga integrates the healing of somatic, emotional, mental and energetic/spiritual polarities, from a dysregulated state to a unified, centered state, and incorporates evidence based psychological treatment. Trauma informed yoga is performed by a trained trauma yoga specialist due to the sensitivity of the emotional dysregulation that can occur during treatment. The goal is to allow the participant to emotionally heal from trauma and find the homeostasis or ground-centered state. TIY (Trauma Informed Yoga) is held in small groups of only 6 participants at a time so the therapist can attend to any emotional releases that during the session. Please understand that these class are very psychologically and emotionally driven. Therefore, TIY is extremely therapeutic to assist in the release of anxiety, depression and other psychosomatic disorders that are associated with trauma.
